WHY RESTORATION MATTERS

Being involved in expanding habitats, parks, gardens, forests, rivers and greenways are ways we celebrate our connection with creation. The joy of being part of a larger cause that improves life for all inspires folks from all walks of life to join hands in restoring ecosystems.

HOW IT WORKS

Living landscapes are ever changing. They thrive from continuous attention. Unlike mechanistic maintenance based on the belieft that upkeep is a burden, ecosystem restoration springs from a value system akin to horticultural therapy. Hands-on participation brings benefits that transcend old notions of costs and benefits. Time invested in creating commons is immediately rewarding on many levels. Physical health, social capital, and civic spirit grow and add beauty enjoyed by all.

“Allen showed us a positive way to design interactively, to make all stakeholders be participative and accountable in the decision making process. For many of us, our life paths have been forever altered because of his involvement.” Catherine Thieme, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Student
