WHY MEDIA MATTER
Because our minds have "multiple intelligences" (Gardner) it's best to use multimedia in forming holistic solutions to "wicked problems" (Rittel) that resist simplistic reduction. Experiencing successive stages of collaboration - from fuzzy magic to focused logic - is wonderful fun for folks of all ages.
HOW IT ALL WORKS
When participation is fun, productive and meaningful, we freely choose to stay involved. In successive stages of collaboration, we thrive by matching mental activities with media capacities. In "primary phase" creativity (Maslow), high-touch/low-tech (McLuhan's "cool" tools) ease expression. Rapid sketching and adventurous videos set the stage for more R & D. We find themes, add facts, and edit for emphasis. Grins grow as the "hard fun" of realizing dreams evokes authentic commitment and cooperation that enlivens one and all.
